Recently evidence was fcund where bears had left a half eaten carcass. In ‘ some cases young beef have fallen prey and the loss is steadily increasing. During recent weeks the fox has 'iecome one of the farmers worst en- emies in this district The little ani mals have become Quite bold and will stand on the road and watch the traffic just as calmly as they have been enteringr a pen where the best turkeys in the country are kept and have earned for themselves the name of “Farmer's Public Enemy No. 1”. Losses are increasing daily and some breeders have had their turkey flocks completely destroyed. The turkeys themselves seem to sense the pending dang-er and have last many lbs. in veight as a result. There have ben several cases where fumer have been plowing and have seen the foxes come. as close as 100 t‘eet to the team and man. Other men have been walking over their farms and acme within a stone throw of mom and they would not move until the farmer made a move to strike. Then the fox would just turn and trot away. Another case was witnessed by Mr. H. Kettle, of this village, who was driving: his cream truck over his regular route. He came within 200 yards of several foxes and not until then did they move jumping a ditch vaulting a fence and disappearing. the presence of these animals how- ever is proving a serious menace to the community and farmers who have already suffered a loss in their crops are worried about this new factor. A strong plea is being made by Bobcaygesn residents urging hunters to do axvay with these unwelcome visitors. Rumors of other cases reached the writer but upon investigation of each case, the supposed party was well and happy. People who start such fairy tales have little to do and it would ’be apreciated if they would keep their mouth shut.
