Elmer (the name he was best known by) was born in Meripcsa about two miles east of Oak- wcod. He was the eldest son of Richard and Selina Richardson (formerly Webster). His tether dying about ten years since, the chief work of. the term devolved on him. About ï¬ve years ago he married Victoria. a daughter of John F. A few years since he identiï¬ed himseu with the Methodist church at Oakwood, and was known from that time to take a lively interest in all church work. Though very frail and alâ€" most helpless on Christmas day last, he was taken in a carriage to the church an- niversary, and although quite an invalid ‘ he much enjoyed meeting his many kind christian friends. This was the only time during the last eight months of his life that he was able to attend the sanctuary. At several times during two weeks before his death his friends thought his last hour had home, but on several of these con: sions, after he had rallied, his chief eil'orts were to praise the Lord. A few days be- iore his death, while his scrrcwing friends ‘ were watching for his departure. he made an effort and asked them to sing. and while friends were weeping he faintly said. "Oh, do sing,-sing ‘Praise God from Whom all Blessings Flow,’ †and after they had finished singing that beautiful daxology he again said, “Do sing mereâ€"â€" sing ‘J esue, Lover of my Soul.’ " when his faint and feeble voice responded by 92818- ing the Lord.
