The Bobcaygeon Independent, referring to the death of Mrs. Eliza Ann Fairbairn, mother of Mr. Charles Fail-balm, M.P., says: The deceased lady was $3 years of age. Her parents were among the ï¬rst settlers in the township of Smith, in fact when they came up the Otonabee river from Rice Lake, for the ï¬rst time, there were but three shanties on the present site of Peterboro.
