The horse immediately sprang to the ditch, throwing the oocunnnt of the vehicle upon the hard road. Fortunately before the horse had gone far the lines became entangled in the wheel, winding around the hub, which brought her to a sudden standstill. Mr. Bowins escaped unhurt, so consequently all the harm there was done was the breaking or one shaft. Mr. Macleod, by the congregations oi Atwood and Houston. He has received. or is about to receive. another call. but too late to be considered at this meeting of presbytery. If Mr. Mac- leod should accept either of these calls his people here will part tram him with regret, for they are unanimous in desiring to retain his services. His pastorate here has been successful and he stands to-day higher in the estimation of his conmtlon than when he be .
