Mr. Rowland lived for a number of years at Reaboro, where his father was the pioneer schoolâ€"nmster,‘ and was con. sidered to be be one of the most clever mathematicians ofhis day. Mr. John Rowland’s estate is supposed to be worth $100,000. V V .,.. 41 years ago he started the Globe Hotel which he successfully managed until a few years ago, since which time it has been controlled by his sons Wil- liam and Orville. in the earlier days Mr. Rowland was an active member of the council and in later years he served as trustee of the public svlmols. Both positions he filled creditahly to himself and the people he represented. He leaves a. widow, four sons and two daughters. The sons are James, who resides in Sault Ste Marie, George, who ‘ lives in Collingwood and William and Orville, who manage the (ilohe Hotel. 1 The daughters, Mrs. Mathews resides} in On en Sound and Mrs. Aylsworth in town. On Wednesday evening a law min- utes before eleven o’clock, Mr. John 'Rowlzmd passed away. Mr. Rowland was one of the early set- tlers here.
