According to Combe, boys born in the months of September, October, November, December, January and February are not so tall as those born in other months. Those born in No- vember are the shortest. Girls, ac- cording to the same authority, born in December, January, February, March April and May show a less length of body than those born in the remaining months. Those born from June to November are taller, but the tallest are born in August. To some extent these facts are attributed to economic conditions. for a. child born in summer has generally better food and air. The blood is vitalized, the nervous system is re-organized, irregularities are cor- rected, strength returns and disease disappears. So remarkable have been the cures performed by these little pills that their fame has spread to the far ends of civilization. Wherever you go you will find the most import- ant article in every drug store to be Dr. Williams’ Pink Pills. the D “What I have sufl'ered is almost be- -' yond description. My illness has I been gradually growing upon me, and eighteen months ago I found my- self almost helpless. My nerves were . shattered, my heart weak and my en- tire system seemingly broken down. I had no rest night or day; the little sleep I did get did not refresh me. I was in constant agony, and onlyawo- man can understand what I endured as I tried to do my household work. Any sudden noise would frighten me and leave me in a condition bordering on collapse. At times I experienced attacks of vertigo, and these seemed for a time to affect my memory. The least exertion would leave me al- most breathless, and my heart would palpitate violently. I had no desire for food of any kind. and yet I had to force myself to eat to maintain life. Itreated with three different doctors and spent much money in this way, but without avail, and I was in a condition bordering on de- spair. I was urged to try Dr. W il- liams’ Pink Pills, and in December, 198, I consented to do so. I first got four boxes and noticed a change for the better after I had finished the second box. When the four boxes were finished there was a great change for the better, and I then procured another half dozen boxes. Before these were all used I was again en- joying the blessing of good health. There can be no doubt of my cure be- cause months have passed since I die- continued taking Dr. Williams‘ Pink Pills, and during that time I have never felt the slightest symptom of the trouble, and I cheerfully and strongly urge other women who are suffering to use this wonderful medi- cine, feelinc sure that it will cure them, as. it did me. ” For several years Mrs. Thomas Sears, of St. Catharines. felt her ill- ness gradually but surely gaining a firmer hold upon her system. and ultimately she almost dispaired of recoverv. To a. reporter who called upon her, Mrs. Sears said: Just a woman’s story. ONLYAWUMAN’SSTORY How to Salt Pork. Fill a large boiler or kettle with sweet fern, steep boiling hot, turn all into the pork barrel, cover with a cloth, let it steam 10 or 12 hours, then rinse the barrel out with cold water. Then put in a layer of coarse salt at bottom of barrel. then a layer of pork, then a layer of salt. Fill in cracks with salt, then a. layer of pork, and so on till the barrel is full. Let it lie in salt four or five days, to let the salt strike in. before adding the water, as the water prevents the salt from striking in; then fill up with water enough to cover the pork. then put on a board or small covering and stone on that. to press down. Don’t put fat and lean together, or blood from lean will make brine smell bad. Wash blood from lean before salting. This recipe is from an old farmer of the state of Maine and is worth try- ing, as pork will keep hard and of nice flavor. Ten- of Yellow Pine. The civil engineering department of the University of Nebraska made an in- teresting test of the crushing strength or blocks of yellow pine. The hlneks were about four inches cubical measure. An ingenious Frenchman, M. Louis Levat, recently administered alcohol, throuzh the soil, to a geranium plant for the purpose of observing the efl'ect. It was sulficiently startling. The leaves of the geranium began to turn yellow, and (rave ofi‘ a peculiar etheric odor, symptoms of poisoning appear- ed, the rootlets turned black and seemed to have been burnt, the circu- lation stopped in the branches, the leaves dropped toward the earth, and in four days the alcoholized geran- ium, which had been a. verv beautiful plant, was a tottering wreck. “I can highly recommend Dodd's Kidney Pills as the best thing for lame back that I ever got. I have only used two boxes and they cured The real backache. about which nobody who ever experiences it can be mistaken, is not an m-lte of the back at all. It is the ache of disordered kidneys. The kidneys are situated op- posite the small of the back. Thus the pain is termed Backache. It is no use treating Buckaohe, so called, locally. It is the kidneys that de- mand treatment. That is the reason that Dodd‘s Kidney Pills have such a reputation for curing Backache. Mrs. Katy Lougheed, of Staples, writes: It has long been contended that backache is really kidney ache. But up to within ten years ago, when Dodd‘s Kidney Pills were first given to the world, the fact had never been actually proved. Bnt Dodd’s Kidney Pills have turned the theory into a. fact. If one has backache one‘s kid- neys are out of order, and no amount of medicine which does not act on the kidneys. will do the slightest good. How many peope have been crippled with lame buck and given up trying to be cured in despair? They were not aware that backache is but a. symptom, not a disease. Staples, Feb. l2.-â€"There is no doubt in the minds of the people of this dis- trict that the contention that back- ache is a. symptom of kidney disease, is literally and absolutely correct. If not, how is it that Dodd’s Kidney Pills, a kidney medicine, cure back~ ache? For there is no dispute about it that Dodd’s Kidney Pills do cure backache.
