The 12th of luly was this year more gloriously celebrated than ever before; that is at least the Opinion ofthe press and those who Celebrated at the various places. It showed the Orange Order to be in a better and stronger position than ever, largely increased in its membership and more influential in the voice of the country. The conduct and bearing of the mem- l hers is certainly better and more dignified than in former years, though there are in this as in other good societies black sheep among them. However the lead- ers of the Order are Well satisfied and confident that public senti. ment and support is with the order in its efforts to maintain the Protestant faith. The Lodges, of Emily District, attended ,the celebration in Port Hope, where they, though depriv- ed of satisfactory meals, enjoyed t h e m s e l v es nevertheless. The Masters of the various Lodges give much praise to the conduct ofthc members, which made them proud of being the leaders ofsuc-h splendid Orangemen. The \Vor- shtpful County~Master Cottrng- ham was a figure in the procession of which his own district ofEmily ts justly proud. That he has the confidence and support of his brother-Orangcmen i 5 beyond doubt an assured fact. Emily District can look back upou this year’s celebration with much sat- isfaction. o __..__ The shirtowaist for men thus far is pronounced to be in Ottawa at least an offensive apparel.
