Having been a. reader of your valuable paper for some time and not having had the pleasure of noticing anything in its columns referring to our enterprising village and vicinity I beg to be excused for the liberty I am taking. The new captain of the Salvation Army of Millbrook held her first meeting here on \Vednesday evening, February 15th. The cantain was greeted with a full house. Several young ladies and Gentlemen of Bethany gathered at the resigence of Mr. H. Logan one evening zecently where they were met by a number from this place, and it is unnecessary to say that an enjoyable evening was spent. Mr, W. Irvin of Pontypool, is busily en- gaged in the wood business here. Mrs. W. Lowe is at present very ill. It. is the wish of everybody that she will soon recover. A meeting was held in the Oiange hall here on then evening of February 17th, for the purpose of organizing a court of the In- dependent Order of F01 esters Mr. McGil- liv ray, one of the fathers of this society, W as present and explained fully the benefits of the order. We look forward W 1th pleasure to the time when a. court will be established here as we believe it to be one of the best societies in Canada. Mr. A. E. Byers of Omemee, was register- ed at the Green Bush house this week. [We are very much pleased to learn of the steps taken towards the establishment of a court of the above order in this locality. FORT DODGE, Feb. 27.â€"Mrs. William Wilbur of Rowan has been adjudged insane and sent. to the asylum. The immediate cause of her losing her mind was a. grephic pen picture of hell drawn in the pulpit by he}; pastor. The preacher’s description of the tor- ments of the damned made such a. vivid im- pression upon Mrs. Wilbur’s mind that. her reason was overthrown and it is feared that she is hopelessly insane.
