Hayes., A large crowd attended the lawn social held at Mr. More Osborne‘s on Friday, July 31st, and after the plentiful and appetizing repast had been served, a splendid program, con~ sisting of music from Oakwood mixed quartette. 'of Manilla, also reading by Mrs. Wilmot Webster and Miss Mabel Lane. of Oakwood, was given, which was much appreciated by the atten- tive audience. The baseball game in the afternoon resulted in I’eniel be- ing the winner over both visifiing teams, winning from Ellis by the score of 28-2}, and from Grant‘s 8-3. Proceeds amounted to about $100. A large number from here attended the celebration at Lindsay on Thurs- day last. Several from here attended the Quarterly Communion service at Manilla Sunday and the Peniel mem- bers of the Quarterly board will be [here tonight at the business meeting. Isir. On Monday evening, July 27th, a special meeting of the Epworth League and Adult Bible Class of the Meth- odist church, was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Welsh. A pleas- ant social time was spent by all pre- sent. During the evening Mrs. Bert Robson, a former esteemed member of the League and Bible Class, was presented with an address, signed in behalf of both societies, accompanied by several useful presents, on the eve of her departure with Mr. Rob- son for their new home in Lindsay. Mr. Robson made a suitable reply. thanking the- members of the League and Bible Class for their kindness on behalf of Mrs. Robson. The house was nicely decorated for the occasion. The Fenelon Falls orchestra gave several fine selections during the evening. Refreshments were served at the close of the program after which the com- pany dispersed, after hearty congra- tulations and expresions of good will in) Mr. and Mrs. Robson who left for Lindsay early in the following week. Mr. Ivan Junkin, of Toronto, visited relatives at the Falls last week. Mr. M. W. Brandon left last week for I’eterboro on receiving the news of the serious illness of his brother-in- law, Mr. W. H.
