Last night the hardware stcre of Mr. J. G.. EdwardsCo.. was burg- larized and two guns and cartridges to fit were taken. One of the guns was a 22 while the other was a 38.55, Marlin make. The thief or thieves, gained entrance to the store by breaking a window at the rear. From appearances a rock must have been hurled at the window, which would make quite aloud report. Whoever the thieves were, or what- ever might have been their purpose. they were not after money. as neither of the merchants mentioned above, missed any cash from the till. It is quite probable that a couple of young fellows wanted to go for a hunt and took this means of getting the nec- essary provisions, guns and' cartridges On Monday night some hungry inâ€" dividual gained entrance to Mr. W.E Baker's grocery and made away with some eatables. Thieves are rampant in Lindsay! Twice this week Kent street stcres have been broken into, entrance be- lng effected by the rear. As announced in the Post a few days ago the milk vendors doing business in Lindsay will, af‘er Nov.. 16t., ad'â€" vance the price 01 milk to seven (its. a quart. Tuesday the Post was phoned to by .a resident who keeps a cow. who stat~ ed the milkmen were being criticised strongly by some citizens for making the advance. It was pointed out by the-citizens in question that there was no money made in selling milk at six cents an quart. There was a great searâ€" ‘City of feed, and with hay selling at $16 'per ton, VH3 little was left for the-milk vemdors. Then there were other items of expense besides the feed for the cattle. and it was also Pointed out that the residents of Petâ€" erborough, Fenelon Falls and other :centres were paying more for their milk than Lindsay citizens. In fact insome towns it was selling at 8c. a. quart. The milkmen state they are up against a serious proposition in ‘the feed shortage. Chief of Police Chilton has ma‘de a thorough hxam-ination 701’ the store and no doubt wiil apprehend the thieves before many days. PORT PERRY WANTS SCUGOG RIVER AND .LAKE ATTENDED T0 BY GOVERNMENT WW3“ ii THE LINQSAY POST Jottings From 5 5 5 Penelon Falls E (Special to The Post\ 1 1 On Friday afternoon the regulari lmeeting of the Feuelon Falls branch } ‘of the Women’s Institute was held I 'in Dickson's Hall. The meeting was‘ {opened in the usual manner by Mrs. 1 :Dr. Gould, President. Dr s J Sims 1 ; gave a very interesting and instruc- j itive address on the care of the teeth, 1 {setting forth the importance of early [attention to the teeth of the child, i j if the permanent teeth are to he ; ifect. The idea is prevalent that 1hr temporary teeth of the child are not worth filling if decayed because new lones will come to replace them, and ithat they are not worth caring for. 'This idea is almost universal, Tten causes a great deal of trouble :with the teeth afterwards. The neces- zsity oi keeping the teeth clean, and 1brushing away from the gums, instead of tpwards them, thereby causing the particles of food to lodge between the teeth, was also emphasized. A great factor in the care and preserva. tion of the teetn is to have a periodi- cal e-xamination and at the earliest manifestation of decay have them- atâ€" tended to, thus saving much pain ,irom toothache, and eventually the ‘loss of the teeth. To retain the nat- ural teeth as long as possible should he the aim of everyone. Charts illus- trating the auab‘iect were shown clearly giving a comprehensive view of the ldiflerent stage! in dental development ‘The doctor also gave a blackboard gillustration of the process of decay ltoward the pulp or nerve situated in 'the centre of‘t‘he tooth, which in a {normal condition is covered on all | sides.
