Ronald Archer is Honoured at Cadmus
Young Airman Gets Presentation and Address
Cadmus, Jan. 11 (PNS) - On Thursday evening, a large number of friends and relatives gathered in Devitt's Hall to honour Ronald Archer, another of our local boys who is serving his country. Ronald enlisted in the R.C.A.F. some months ago.
After an hour or two of dancing, Rupert Graham, the chairman, asked Ronald, his aunt, Miss J. Archer and his father, Mr. David Archer, to occupy chairs at the front of the hall. Miss Jean Coulter read an appropriate address, following which Ivan Mountjoy and Burney Hooey presented Ron. with a handsome writing portfolio in genuine leather case, also a Waterman pen and pencil set. Several friends expressed good wishes for his success in every undertaking. Ron replied, thanking everyone for the gifts and their kind words. Lunch was served and dancing continued until the early hours of the morning. Music was supplied by Mrs. H. Harris, Messrs. L. Hyland, R. Ashton and P. Gatchell.- Media Type

- This card is part of a larger collection of World War II personnel clippings. The project began in 1944 at the Lindsay Library. The intent was to gather together as much information as possible on the military record and the service of people from the Town of Lindsay and the County of Victoria (now Kawartha Lakes)who served in the war. To that end, during the years 1944, 1945, and 1946, members of the public donated photographs and updated information about their loved ones. Both library staff and the public saved and donated newspaper clippings. Some of the files contain great amounts of detail, while others have just a name.
