V-J DISPLAY AT WARDER
Samples of Victoria and Haliburton Service File and Honour Roll Shown - Urgent Need for Completion of This Historic File.
Citizens of the town and district will be interested in viewing the V-J display in the Corner Window of the Watchman Warder. Featured in the display and attractively framed in red, white and blue are sample entries from Victoria and Haliburton Service File. This honour Roll for the soldiers, sailors, airmen and women from our two countries [sic] has been receiving contributions for the past year and is now a substantial record of the part played by our sons and daughters in this war. Unfortunately there remain many short entries and very many omissions but it is confidently hoped that Victory over Japan and the return of our heroes will prove to be necessary factors in obtaining the active co-operation that will permit complete records and a snapshot of every serviceman and woman. The importance of checking this Honour Roll and of contributing whatever information is available cannot be over emphasized. One thousand forms were prepared for these new entries at the time of V-E day, three months ago. In spite of repeated requests for information these records were not received. With this ultimate victory in World War 2 it is felt that the serviceman [sic] themselves as well as their families and friends will be glad to provide this information. If the Service File is to have a permanent value ALL must be listed and the information must be accurate and complete. The co-operation of every individual and of every centre in the counties is needed. Please bring or send the records and snapshots of your representatives in the forces to the Public Library in Lindsay.- Media Type
