AMPUTATED BY INCHES.--For several weeks past Mrs. Isaac Walker, of Verulam, has been afflicted with a felon on the forefinger of the right hand, and it gradually assumed such alarming characteristics that Dr. Bryson, of this village, decided that the finger would have to be amputated, and on Monday last he and Dr. Herriman, of Lindsay, performed the operation. But, the finger having been removed, they found that the marrow in the bones was so much affected that they considered it imperatively necessary to take off the second finger and a portion of the palm of the hand with it, which was done, and still diseased marrow appeared. Then the whole hand was removed: next, the arm above the elbow ; and, finally, a fifth amputation was performed. The patient, who is 66 years old, is doing as well as can be expected.
