MATRIMONIAL.-On New Year's day

Mr. F.S. Blair, of North Carolina, led

to the hymeneal altar Miss Lydia N.

Bowerman, of this place. The ceremony

was performed according to the custom

of the Society of Friends, to which body

both parties belong, and was witnessed

by a large concourse of friends. Miss

Bowerman has ever since its opening

been connected with the Pickering col-

lege, and the appreciation of her work by

her pupils and friends in that establish-

ment was exhibited by the presentation

of a beautiful silver water-service, con-

sisting of a large ewer, tray and goblets.

There were also numerous other presents

to the bride. The ceremony was per-

formed at the residence of Mr. Vincent

Bowerman.
