A Port Hope Wedding The marriage of Mr. Edward Blake, son of Hon. Edward Blake, Q.C., of Toronto, to Miss Ethel Mary Benson, daughter of His Honor Judge Benson, was solemnized at St. John's Church Tuesday morning at 9.45 o'clock. The sacred edifice was crowded to the doors with friends of the couple to witness the ceremony. Rev. Prof. Jones of Trinity College, Toronto, assisted by Rev. Edwin Daniel, rector of St. John's Church, performed the ceremony. After the ceremony was over a short reception was held at the residence of Judge Benson and the bridal couple left on the fast express for Montreal where they will embark on the Parisian for a three months' trip in Europe.

Notes
The directory shows the newspaper publication date as 28 May 1891 (no announcement of the marriage could be found in that edition). However, this VITA entry uses the announcement found in the 21 May 1891 edition of the same paper. This makes the announcement 2 days earlier than the actual marriage date of 23 May 1891, as can be found on the marriage register (see AncestryLibrary.ca) The newspaper announcement also says that the wedding was held on a Tuesday, which would suggest the wedding date of 19 May 1891.
Also, the groom's middle name does not appear in this newspaper announcement.
