July 1: Canada Day The 2020 Way

The City of Kawartha Lakes compiled a Canada Day celebratory video message during the COVID-19 pandemic featuring temporary art installations in collaboration with the Kawartha Art Gallery and the Kawartha Art Network, messages from front-line city services (Fire Rescue, Police Service, Paramedic Service, and OPP) and photo contributions from city residents. The city offered up a limited supply of free Canada Day decoration kits to encourage residents to dress up their homes and share photos to celebrate Canada Day using #KawarthaLakesStrong Due to COVID-19, traditional community Canada Day celebrations of food, fun and fireworks in all Kawartha Lakes communities were cancelled to protect residents as it would have been far too difficult to ensure good social distancing (6 ft/2 metres away from anyone) at such events. But Bobcaygeon still managed to put on a parade!
