Kawartha Lakes extends mask requirement Kawartha Lakes extends mask requirement This Week Commercial establishments are not the only places in Kawartha Lakes where people are being asked to wear masks starting Monday (July 13). The City is encouraging users of both Lindsay Transit and LIMO Transit to wear a mask or face covering at all times during their travels. Physical distancing also remains in place. Masks are also mandatory for transit drivers effective July 13. All routes and fares have been restored. Public library branches offering curbside pickup of materials will require staff and patrons to wear a mask or face covering as some branches involve use of the lobby. These include branches in Lindsay, Fenelon Falls, Kinmount and Kirkfield. The use of masks will be required while the provincial emergency order remains in place or until such time that the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit medical officer of health lifts the requirement. Masks must be worn in any areas in which customers interact with one another or with staff members, or any areas that are open or accessible to members of the public. People do not need to wear masks in outdoor areas such as patios and outdoor farmers markets, schools, child care centres and business offices that are not open to members of the public. Wearing a mask is about protecting other people and reduces the likelihood that someone could unknowingly spread the virus to another person. All members of the public who are able to wear a mask are asked to do so. Exceptions include: • A child under the age of two years; or a child under the age of five years either chronologically or developmentally and he or she refuses to wear a face covering and cannot be persuaded to do so by their caregiver. • A person is incapacitated and unable to remove their mask without assistance. • For any other medical reason, the person cannot safely wear a non-medical mask or face covering such as, but not limited to, respiratory disease, cognitive difficulties or difficulties in hearing or processing information. • For any religious reason, the person cannot wear a non-medical mask or face covering or cannot cover the face in a manner that would properly control the source.
