Description
Local pharmacist Cathy Puffer said that before the health unit's mandatory face mask or covering rule came into effect, approximately 60% of her clients wore masks. As of day one of the rule, she was surprised to see 99% following it and those that came without masks either purchased a disposable mask or returned later with a face covering.

Enforcement of the mandatory mask rule was a hotly debated topic, but local lawyer Jason Ward stressed that businesses should focus on educating their customers and posting very visible signage identifying the new rules before customers enter. Businesses were advised to allow an unmasked customer without an explanation to browse the store, but wait for the called health unit or the police to intervene instead of themselves.
