- Terms of reference released July 29, 2020 for the commission on nursing homes indicated that the commission would be able to hold hearings in private, keep documents confidential and did not have to issue recommendations for improvements. This revived calls for a full public inquiry to understand how the COVID-19 virus got into long-term care homes despite the provincial government's promise of tight lockdowns and protections, where nursing home residents with COVID-19 had a one-in-three chance of dying.
