- Director of education for TLDSB Wes Hahn shared with trustees what opening day would look like for students returning to local public schools starting September 8, 2020.
Changes included directional signage, enhanced cleaning protocols, mandatory masks for students grades 4-12 on buses and in school, washroom protocols varying by school, sick-during-school isolation, limited access to the school, and virtual learning.
Secondary students could expect all of this plus a staff supervised lunch period where students would eat in their Period 2 classroom, were not allowed to leave the building for lunch at any time, cafeteria access would be tightly controlled, and students would be allowed to snack and drink in class; a "quadmester" system where course lengths would last for 44 days before moving to two other subjects; and all but senior grades exams were replaced with culminating activities. - Publisher
