- The Ontario government launched voluntary testing of asymptomatic staff and students in high risk areas but Premier Doug Ford believed unions would not support mandatory testing even though COVID-19 school cases continued to climb.
Local teachers union presidents said decision about COVID strategies should be backed by expert public health advice and based on best available research. They also stated that there are other measures that would have equal or greater impact than mandatory testing of staff and students, such as making ventilation improvements a priority and smaller class sizes. - Publisher
