- Ontario announced that elementary school students in Southern Ontario would not be returning to the classroom on January 11, 2021 and extended online learning until January 25, 2021. Northern Ontario school shutdowns were extended until January 25, 2021.
Officials said these time-limited measures were being taken to help “ensure that all Ontarians stay at home as much as possible to minimize transmission of the virus and prevent hospitals from becoming overwhelmed”, while at the same time being responsive to the fact that Northern Ontario students were not able to learn at home as effectively due to limited access to reliable Internet service. - Publisher
