Fenelon Falls native brings perspective to COVID-19 with Every Brilliant Thing that she finds it hard to be happy, he starts to make a list of everything that's great about the world. Everything that's worth living for; in other words, Every Brilliant Thing. He leaves it on her pillow and knows that she's read it because she's corrected his spelling. As he grows up, he adds to the list, and it soon takes on a life of its own. "At a time when the world is topsy-turvey and there are so many worries and stresses, it seems right and fitting that we produce this wonderful script that talks about feeling despair and, in turn, pinpoints all the positives one can find in life; from ice cream to falling in love to peeing in the sea and nobody knowing," said Globus artistic director Sarah Quick. "The audience and our narrator will journey through this list of happiness-inducing things together and our hope is that our audience experience a truly unforgettable theatrical experience." The show runs Oct. 21 to 23 and Oct. 28 to 30 nightly at 6 p.m. A graduate of Fenelon Falls Secondary School, Barrett earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Windsor. Since then, he has been a professional actor in theatre, film and television for more than 30 years. In 2003 Barrett and Quick - also a talented actor and playwright - co-founded Globus Theatre and became the company in residence at the Lakeview Arts Barn near Bobcaygeon. Over the years, the company has brought a diverse range of professional theatre to the Kawarthas, as well as numerous opportunities for budding local thespians of all ages to test their mettle and build their skills. Like many others across the province, the theatre has pivoted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in order to continue to provide live theatre to area residents and visitors alike, including the development of an outdoor performance venue. Both dinner and show are socially distanced cabaret-style seating. Masks are required when moving around the building. Performances are also limited to 50 audience members.
