Township Insignia
Verulam Township was named in honor of James Walter Grimstone, Earl of Verulam, born 1775, died 1845. The title of Earl of Verulam is taken from Verulamium, or Verulam, the ancient capital of Britain, and afterwords a Roman station in Heretfordshire, England. Francis Bacon was an Earl of Verulam.
