Port Perry, Dec. 19, 1883, Scientific American Agency for "Over thirty years ago, I remember hearing my father describe the wonder- ful ects of Ayer's Cherry Pectoral Ig & recent attack of La Grippe, which assumed the form of a catarrh, soreness of the lungs, accom= panied by an aggravating cough, I used various remedies and prescriptions. 'While some of these medicines partially alleviated the coughing during the day; none of them afforded me any relief from that spasmodic action of the lungs which would seize me the moment I attempted to lie down at night. After ten or twelvd such nights, I was Nearly in Despair; and had about decided to sit up all night in my easy chair, and procuré what sleep I could in that way. It then oc= curred to me that I had a- bottle of Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. I took a spoonful of this preparation in a little water, and was able to lie down without coughing. In a few moments, I fell asleep, and awoke in the morning greatly refreshed and feeling much better. I took a teaspoonful of the Pec toral every night for a week, then grad- ually decreased the dose, and in two Weeks my cough was cured." Ayer's Cherry Pectoral Prepared by Dr. J.C. MIRACLE. \I'HE JOYOUS RESULT OF TAKING TIMELY ADVICE The story of Mr: Wm. Prendergast's Suffering and Restortion--Given up by Doctors and believed to be dying he finally recovers perfect health. From the Comber Herald, Mr: Wm. Prendergast, of the town- ship of Rothester; a former resident of this village, is known to almost all in this section, and is warmly esteemed by all his acquaintances. It is well known that Mr. Prendergast went through-a terrible seige of suflering, and that few of his friends had any hope of his 'recovery: Mr. Prender gast's trouble was chironic enteritis, (intestinal mflammation) and what he suffered at times can hardly be des sribed. Hundreds of dollars were spent in medical treatment Lut with out avail, Sedatives, stimulants, tonics aud external applicatios, etc, were successively tried with little or no result. Brief temporary relief might ensue; but it was always very brief when the dread tormenter re- tuined to smite him with fresh agony. Iu this condition Mr. Prendergast con- tinued until last summer, when the physician frankly told him that his disease was incurable. The nows came as a terrible shock to his wife and children. Long before this, aftera manful struggle, he had been forced to give up work on his farm; but there had always been hopes of his recovery to buoy up his family and friends, -- But the statement that his case was considered incurable was like a stroke of impending dodm, and his friends constantly dreaded to bear that he WAS NO More. Such was the condition of affairs at the close of Jast summer and a little later it was understood that Mr, Pren- dergast was gettitig better, and on the way to recovery. Lately one of his friends while in the Hearld sanctum remarked, "Prendergast is on his feet again and as sound asa hell." Inquiry uaturally followed as to what produc: el this remarkable result, and we were informed that his recovery was solely dee to the use of Dr. Williams' Pink Pills for Pale People. The Herald had published the patticulars of many remarkable cures by the use of this remedy, and while not by any means skeptical, felt a strong desire to verify a case in our own locality, and aceord- ingly drcve to Mr. Prendergast's. On reaching the hose it was ascertained that Mr. Prendergast was some dis tance away in the field mending n fence: Thither the scribe wended his way, meeting with a gordial welcome and an invitation to come back to the house to diuner, we wrged him: 16 tell about the remarkable change that had laken place in his condition.
