T. of | ij have agreed to a "Cull" for # general provin- 'pial representative tbnvention of friends of tetmporance aid prohibition. 1b is firmly Lelieved that there is to- day it thie Provinue of Ontario an overwhelntiing public sentiment in "favor of the total prohibition of the fiquor traffic. This sentiment hes fuade itself manifest in the many declarations made by Ohurch courts, temperance organiza tiotis, municipal councils, and many other representative Lodies; in the thany petitions laid before our Legis- lature and the Dominion Parliament, and in the eagerness with which our electors have taken hold of any legis- lative measure promising to suppress or limit the evil-working liquor- Notwithstanding all that has been tlone, the liquor traffic is still strong and aggressive. It burdens our country with a fearful load of suffering, poverty, disease, mortality and crime. Itis increasing in wealth and has a debauching nud dangerous influence in our pclitical affairs, It is manifest that Lo succeessfully meet this formid- able enemy there must be a closer Sr. quest hibition is also a matter culling for special effort to secure full- est possible demonstration of the people's desire for total prohibition. In view of these facts every friend of right who nay receive this "Call" is earnestly urged to use his inflaence to make the coming convention a suc- cess, Officers of all societes are re- quested to bring the matter before their respective organizations ; pastors are requested to lay it before their congregations ; all these bodies are earnestly urged to appoint delegates to the convention on the basis hereinafter set out ; newspaper editors are respect- fully requested to give it as much pub- licity as possible, The plan of representation is as | follows :--Every church and society is entitled to two representatives, and each church or society having more than fifty members, be entitled to an additional delegate for each fifty or fractional part of fifty after the first full fifty members. The following organizations will be entitled to representation on the basis named : Branches of the W,0.T.U., Divisions of the Sons of Temperance, Lodges of the I.0.G.T.. Branches of the League of the Oross, Prohibition Clubs, any other prohibition or temperance organ- izntions, Church Congregations, Young Men's Christian Associations, Salva- tion Army Corps, Societies of Ohristian Endeavor, Epworth Leagues, Branches of St. Andrews' Brotherhood, Baptist Young People's Unions, any, other young people's associations in connec- tion with church work ; the Provincial Officers and Executive Committes of the Ontario Branch of the Dominion Alliance to be also members of the convention, The Convention will meet in the Temperance Hall, Temperance street, Toronto, on Tuesday, October, 3rd, at 10 a,m., and will probably last for two days. Reduced rates will be given on all railway lines, Each del egate will purchase, on starting, « a Regular Siogle-Fare Ticket to Toronto, He will also procure from the ticket agent at the same time standard certificate, filled out, show- ing that be has purchased said ticket. This certificate he will present to the secretary of the convention, who will sign it. It will then entitle him to return ticket free of cost, unless there should be fewer than three hundred delegates holding such certificates (which is very improbable), in which ease the return tickets will be issued at one-third the usual rate. The Executive of the Ontario Branch of the Dominion Alliance has requested the comittee to state that it has been decided not to call the annual meetmg of that body in Sep- tember next, but suggests thit the October convention resolve iteelf into such meeting; in which event the Ex- ecutive of the Alliance will request the Convention to make any change in Alliance Oonstitution and management that may be deemed necessary for the better carrying on of the united pro hibition work of the Proviuce of Ontario." As a cure for every class of Nervous Diseases, no remedy has been able to compare with tlie Nervine Tonic, which is very pleasant and harmless "in all its effects upon the youngest child or the oldest and most delicate individual. Nine-tenths of all the ailments to which the human family is heir are dependent on nervous exhaustion and impaired diges- tion. When there is an insufficient supply of merve food in the blood, & general state of debility of the brain, spinal marrow, and nerves is the result. Starved nerves, like starved muscles, become strong when the right kind of food is supplied; and a thousand weaknesses and ailments disappear as the nerves recover. As the nervous system must supply all the power by which the vital forces of the body are carried on, it is the first to suffer for want of perfect nutrition. Ordinary food does not con- tain a stifficient quantity of the nd of nutriment necessary to repair the wear our present mode of living and Xabew impoges upon the nerves.
