Some of the officials around the State Department are of the opinjon that this country ha§ gone too far already in furnishing vessels for the naval reserves on the great lakes, and that the train- ing ships on this water should be re- moved. It is being suggested that Canada, in issuing permits for the large fleet of naval training ships 1s now ina position to make similar requests frem the United States for such vessels, and if a halt is not called this treaty will ba virtually abrogated. Recently, through the efforts of Senators from Illinois, the stite Department secured consent from the Canadian Government to let the first class gun-boat Nashville on the great lakes ag a training ship for tha Illinois naval reserve. The Nashville carries a full armament and she has no right on the lakes under the treaty. Naturally, Toledo, which has a strong orgunization of Reserves, is asking for the eame class of boat, and the State Departinent is convinced that if a halt Grey, declared that there was intense feeling in this country against the visit: The Speaker called Mr. Thorne to order, but the member would sot be quieted; and shouted out : "It will bea good job if the Ritssian Emperor gets his" deserts AL when he does tome ; he is an inhumarh | STOCK Biute."
