Crosby, who has been a resi- dent of this town for forty six years, suffered a stroke of paralysis and on Sunday last he succumbed to its eflects. Mr. Crosby was born in Markham, He was one of * six sons of the late Chauncey C os= by a1 d came to Uxbridge about the year.1863, sper dng a whilein the store business with his brother Ira G., and then embarking in business for himself. Later he built what is known as the Crosby block, the three storied building on the hill and also the store further west owned by J. Cherpaw. After giv ing up the store business he went into insuiance, laning &c. He was on the census staff at Ottawa a couple of years and for the past few years in the customs at Toron- to. He served the town as coun- cillor and 'was also Mayor. 1857 he was married to Miss Mi Gould, daughter of the late Gould, and he is survived by Crosby and seven children.
