Shirley Our quiet community had the ex- citemerik of a wedding on Jan. 1st the parties united in mariiage being Mr. John R. Brent, of Raglan, and Miss Gertrude Coates of Shirley, Rev. J. W. Totten officiated. The young couple were unattended except by little Miss Strong, who made a charm- ing little flower girl. The bride came in leaning on her father's arm and looked charming, being beautifully and appropriately attired. There were just the immediate friends of both bride and groom present. After a sumptuous repast the young couple left for a happy honey-moon accomp- anied by lavish supplies of confetti, good wishes and kindest regards. Miss Coates was held in high esteem and will be much missed by a large circle of sincere friends. Scugog On Monday Dec. 22nd; the Scugog Centre Sunday school held their Annual Christmas entertasnment. The programme was good and a large crowd was in attendance. Miss Ethel Bruce bas returned to her home in Seagrave for her holidays, Mr. Petty also returned to his home for the holidays.
