* 'Word has just been received that {once Miss Norah McLean won the Third Carter scholorship at the Honour Matriculation examination last June. These Scholarships, the bequest of _ the late J. S. Carter, Esq, of Sarnia, are awarded annually to the students who at the: Upper School examinatons obtain the highest aggregate of marks in their County. "Miss McLean 15 to be congratulated on taking such a * high standing, as she has brought distinction not only to herself, but also to our town and our High School. Mr, Russel Sanguin left here on Monday for his home in Montana, We wish him a safe journey. His visit this winter has been much enjoy- ed by all those who knew him. Mrs. John Cowie and children ex- pect to return to their home in Grav- enhurst about the latter end of this week, Mrs Irvin is leaving on Thursday of this week for Nova Scotia. Mrs. Irvin's early home was in Nova Scotia, and her people still live there. Wesley No matter what else you miss, dont miss seeing the Mikado. Ministerial Association A Ministerial Association has been formed for South Ontario, with the following officers: President--Rev. Dr. Hare, Whitby Vice Pres--Rev Geo Yule, Oshawa Sec. Treas.-- Rev. G. A. McLean Whitby John Ford and Rev. W. P. Rogers attended the initial meeting of the Association on Monday, when the question of "Future Leadership in the Church" was discussed. The meetings of the Association will be held: at various points through- out the district. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Carnegie have returned home after spending a month in Toronto. Messrs W. U. & H. Scugog Ag. Society At a mecting of the Directors of the |2 Port Perry, Reach and Scugog Agri~ cultural Society, held on Friday of last week, Mr. E. H. Purdy was elect- ed Secretary. Considerable work of arrangement was done, and at the next meeting of the Directors, which is to be held on 17th of March, it is expected that the plan of work for 1916 will be pretty well completed. : The Prize List has been divided up up, and is now in the hands of several competent committees for revision. At the next meeting of the Directors, the recommendations of these committees will be considered. Greatest attention is to be given to the Prize List upon which it is hoped that the success of the Fair of 1916 will be based. Soldiers' Concert On Friday evening, February 25, there will be a Soldiers' Concert in the Town Hall, given by members of the 116th Battalion. The program will consist of Music, Singing, Pyramids, Bayonet Fighting, Dancing, Club Swinging, Physical Drill, Japanese Boxing, Selections by the 116th Regtmental Band.
