Died Crozier -- In Scugog, on Friday, May 19th, 1916, George Crozier, in his 85th year. District Meeting The Annual District Meeting of the Whitby District of the Bay of Quinte Conference of the Methodist Church was held on Friday, the 19th inst, the Rev. W P Rogers, B.A, Chairman of District, presiding. All the ministerial and most of the lay delegates were present. I'he ministerial session convened at 9.30. Two facts mark it off as important: 7 1 Rev. J] W Totten, after fifty-one years in the active ministry, was re- * commended to be granted a superan- nuated relationship to the next Con- ference. 2 Mr E M Cook, of Scugog, was recommended to be received by the Conference as a probationer for the min s'ry. Mr. Cook's College stand- ing is exceptionally good. He pre- sented a certificate from Albert Col- lege, showing a standing of 98% The General Session met at 1.30 p.m. The outstanding features were the reports of the District Sunday School Secretary, Rev. H. W. Foley, B.A. and of the District Statistical Secretary, Rev. ] O Totten. The statistics showed a net increase of 81 in the membership, also a splendid increase in givings to the Missionary, Educational, Social and Moral Reform, and other Connexional ~ Funds of the church. What Port Perry Methodist church did to make possible such a good re- port, will be told at the Con- gregational meeting to be held on Thursday evening next at 8 o'clock. Messrs. E. H. Purdy,*S. Jeffrey, and Jas. Ward were elected delegates to Conference, with Mr. S. Farmer as alternate. Messmore of Pauri, India, was held from the residence of her daughter, Mrs T W McLean, on Monday, 15th st. At 8 a.m, the Revs Mr Rogers and Mr West conducted a service after which the remains were taken by the G. T. R. to Omemes for interment in the Emily Presbyterian Cemetery. The Rev Mr Down of Omemee con: ducted the burial service. The deceased had spent most of her hfe in mission work in India, where ber husband-is buried. She left Boston, Mass. in 1860 when it took five months to make the journey to Calcutta. She had returned to America a number of times, the last being soon after-the death of her husband. Her particular labours were among the women and girls of India, whom sbe influenced for the Master, through the medium of a newspaper edited in Hindustani.
