Christmas or before. 2 Mrs. Charles Vickery! 3 Mis Charles Vickery" who died at Port Perry, on Saturday, July '15, 1918, was born in Whitby fownship, * south-east of Myrtle. Her maiden + name was Elizabeth Ann Briggs. In her younger days Mr. D. L. Williams, formerly of Prince Albert, was her school teacher. Mrs. Vickery moved to Port Perry in 1871, and has seen itgrow. Two years before coming to town, her hus- band, Mr Charles Vickery died. Two sons and three daughters sur- vive their mother--Mr C 'L Vickery, of Port Perry, Mr James Vickery of Lindsay, Mrs J Kyle and Mrs Gregg, of Port Perry, and Mrs Crozier, of Lindsay The loss of a' mother is keenly felt. She has been the sweet rallying point around which obedience and affection concentrate. Sickness and old age only serve to place upon the walls of memory pictures of that mother's de- votion and self-sacrifice. Her contin. ous care and kindness shielded the hours of childhood's helplessness, and was a guiding star in the dangers of youth. When that life is ended here, it draws with beckoning finger to the eternal home. The loving esteem of Mrs Vickery's children is a living testimony to her worth. Rev John Harris conducted the funeral service. . There were many beautiful floral tributes. A number of relatives from a distance were present at the funeral--Mr R S Vick- ery and son Frank, of Whitby; Mr and Mrs E L Vickery, and Lieut C A Vickery, Oshawa; Mr James Vickery .and Mr and Mrs. W Crozier, Lindsay; "Mrs John Stabback; Miss Maud Stabback{ Mr and Mrs W Stabback, Beaverton; Mrs G L Dobson, Toronto HOUSEMAID WANTED-- Apply to Mrs W U Carnegie, Port Perry Mrs Henry, and Miss Gertrude, are visiting friends in Bowmanville.
