The Town Hall was filled on Wed- nesday evening of last week, when a Patriotic Concert was given. A very interesting program was provided. The chairman, Rev Buckler, stated for what purpose the concert was put on, and hoped the addresses would bear fruit, Music was supplied by the Misses Cook and Mr. Roach. Miss Dafoe's recitations were of a high order. Other speakers were Major J. A. Patton, of thé 182nd Bn. and Mr. Morley Campbell. Major Patton is a well known figure all over the County. He made a direct, strong appeal to the young men, but in a kindly way. He served in the South African war, and was in this one until he was in- jured. He is going back and wants the young men of the County to go with him. We must see the war through, he declared. Canadians are praised in every country-of the Allies. "The First Canadian Division at Ypres saved the situation. England would have fallen had the Germans broken through, but when the war was over there was not a Canadian in reserve, | where there should have been four to each man at the front line. The Ger-' to winning. They had ample reserves but were tired enough to rest Had the Germans persisted they would have gone through to the channel.
