Mr West received a majority on the first ballot." Bandmaster Cowie, of the Muskoka Battalion, now stationed at Galt, is Home on sick leave, having been ill in the hospital for some time. It is pleasing to know that Mr Cowie 1s now on the road to recovery. Mr. Henderson, of Amherst Island, was the guest of Mr W. McClintock, and other friends for the week end. Mr. Kennedy and his daughter, Miss Gertrude, are returning home this week, after spending some weeks in Toronto. Mrs. Wright Crosier is visiting her daughter in Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Davey, Toronto, spent some days Jast week with friends ia town. Mr. Arthur Prentice is moving into Mr. Penhall's house on Crandell St Mr. and Mrs Jas. Davey, of Scu- gog Island, are moving into the Aaron Williams property on Lilla St. We welcome Mr and Mrs Davey and fam- ily to Port Perry. They have been good neighbors on the Island and will find nminy friends in town. Mr. W. H. Letcher returned home from his visit to Lindsay, where he|®" spent some days enjoying the pleas- ures of curling. Rev. J. Ford will conduct the "ser- vices in the Baptist church in Fenelon Falls next Sunday. Mr. F. W. McIntyre was in Toronto Tuesday and Wednesday on a buying tip. Rev Dr Baker, Principal of Albert College, will preach in the Methodist church here next Sunday morning and evening. Mrs. (Rev.) W P Rogers is in 'Lo- ronto this week attending the Execu- tive meetings of the Bay of Quinte Conference Summer School. A number of people from Pert Perry are attending the Temperance Convention is Toronto this week, in- cluding Mr. and Mrs. J. Stonehouse, Mrs. John Ford, and Mrs S Farmer.
