A pleasing feature of the evening's proceedings was the presentation to the four members of the 182nd Bat- talion Band who were former members of the Port Perry Band, namely: --C L. McKinnon, A Corrina, O. Cook, Bert. McGregor. They received signet rings, and copies of the follow- ing address read by Mr Campbell-- Dear Comrades, It is seldom that we have an occas- ion when pride and regret each tries to get the mastery over our feelings-- pride that our young friends have responded to the call of King and Country; regret that we are to lose the pleasure of your personal presence. But your action is strengthening the ties of friendship, and our interest in you will be more vital. We shall watch for news of you, and your suc- cess will be our pride--your danger will be our' concern--your trials will be our sorrow. You have lived among us' for years and unthinkingly we did not under- stand that you had the spirit of heroes. But our eyes are open now to your value, and we feel proud to have been associated with you in musical fellow- ship. We trust that your talents may ever inspire encourage your feliow soldiers and that you may be buoyed up by the Eternal Spirit that speaks in music, in beauty, in courage, and in true manhood. Please wear these signet rings as a token of esteem from your fellow bandsmen Signed on behalf of the Band George R.
