The supper was not wheatless, meatless,' or sugarless There was plenty for all of good quality and well served, and people ate it with a proper appreciation of the fact that it was toe good to be wasted. "t'he Trish element of good humor pervaded the program, in which a number of our talented townspeople took part: Port Perry Quartette--Mrs I) Archer Mrs A M Roberts, Mr F W McIntyre, and Mr T H Follick. Miss DeFoe, Miss O Wallace and Miss F Walker, Elocutionists. Mis H W Emmerson and Mis A M Roberts, soloists. Mrs Archer and Mrs Roberst, duett.' "Mr Ross Roach, cornetist. Chorus by girls of the school. Miss Irene Jack, piano solo Miss Gertrude Elliott, accompanist. All the numbers on the program were pleasingly bright and the aud- ience dropped for the time being the thought of war, although here and there could be seen some busy knitter fashioning. a sock for some boy in the trenches. Rev W H Black was chairman; and 'possessed a fund of good stories which he gave away with true Irish liberality, Rev Mr Elliott and Rev Mr Ford were both called upon to speak, and the audience applauded + for two reasons. What they had to say struck the popular note, and next they showed that they knew that "brevity is the soul of wit".* The electric lights went out during one of the numbers, but the audience kept "the home fires burning" so that the brightness continued. .~Social Evening On Wednesday, March 27th, the ladies of the W.C.T.U. purpose holding a "social in the Oddfellows' Hall.
