For the month of January, 1918, the average was 60.68; for January, 1919, 65.5 and for January, 1920, 65. The school has the pleasure again of announcing donations of prizes whieh have been freely offered without solicitation. Mr. W. H. Letcher is contributing two prizes to the Household Science Department, and two prizes to be competed for by the boys at their annual field cay next fall. The local W. C. T. U. also has promised two prizes to the Household Science. Depart- ment as they did last year. It is a matter of very great satis- faction that the citizens are taking such an interest in the new departments of the school. Prizes aggregating more than twenty dollars are already prom- ised, and these will certainly encourage good work by the students and will benefit the whole community. He was always a strong temper- ance advocate and a true and faithful adherent and supporter of the Methodist Church. One brother and one sister survive, Ds: Gampbell and Mrs. Roberts of our village, Mr. Campbell is the fourth octogenarian to have. passed in the last two months, the others being Mrs. Caroline White, Mr. Charles Fallis and Miss Martha Thomas. - Ye old Folks Concert On Thursday evening of last week we were afforded a most pleasing opportunity to turn from the "Jazz" and the nerve- racking complexities of the pres: ent age, and to allow our thoughts to turn back to the grand old days when young men in ruffles and silk knickers gracefully danced the Minuet with demure, hoop-skirted maids; when lordly, bewigged gentle. men bowed in chivalrous homage over grand dames with powder- ed hair and attired in stately silks, and when music was com- posed not for -its speed and "catchiness,"" but for its har- 'mony and grace. The Old Time Concert, under the auspices of the I.0.D.E., proved to be one of the most|}, enjoyable events ever given in Port Perry: The program was rendered under the direction of Miss Bull, who deserves to be complimented on the success of the entertain- ment. The excellence of the various numbers of old time song; music, dance and elocution again demonstrates that Port Perry enjoys an unusual wealth of local talent. The stage, appropriately fur- nished, formed a perfect setting for the company of ladies and gentlemen in their old time cos- tumes. The hall was filled to capacity : and the Daughters of the Em- pire netted a goodly amount, which will be devoted to patrio- tic and philanthropic purposes The ladies greatly appreciate the kind assistance of all those who contributed to the success of thesevening, After the program proper. a dance was enjoyed by the young people.
