Hiscox, The late William Ward A well known resident passed away on Thursday lasl in the] person of William Wardell Ward, at his home on Centre Street. Mr, Ward has been ill fora considerable period, though con- fined to his home only four weeks of that time. About a month ago he was obliged to re- linguish his duties at the Cus oms Office, and soon afterwards he suffered a stroke of paralysis His death occurred on Thursday evening about six o'clock. Sander- son, both of Cartwright. © HOCKEY On Wednesday evening last the hockey enthusiasts enjoyed a real whirlwind game of hockey at the local rink when the Port 'Perry Band defeated the Local Amateurs by 5to3. The game was fast from 'start to finish. At times the referee had trouble to prevent a real battle, so much so that in the second period all were on .the fence except the goal tenders. The strength of both teams was so 'great that hockey sticks became scarce and they had to resort brooms.
