Haig, . of Ashburn; Rev. Mr. Rae, of Unionville, on behalf of | the Board of Mission; Mrs Tur- kington for the Whitby Presby- terial, Rev. Mr. Harrison, Mrs. Haig, and Miss Florence Walker. Rev. Mr. Hall presided. In all the addresses there was a note of congratulation to Miss§Stuart and her friends. Mrs Turking- ton and Rev. Mr. Rae gave nota- bly fine addresses. At the con- clusion, Mr. Norman Stuart responded d in a most appreciative speech on behalf of his daughter. The choir provided excellent music, and at the conclusion of the meeting, refreshments were served in t le basemeént by the ladies of the church. W.M.S. Convention ~The annual Convention of the Woman's Missionary Society, of the Whitby district was held in Mt. Zion Church, (Greenwood scale) on Tuesday Oct. 12th, he Church presented.a very attractive appearance, having been decorated with beautiful | em flowers and plants. The after- noon Session opened at 2.30 with devotional excercises con- ducted by Mesdames Bunner and Gee. A very cordial address of wel- come was then extended to the delegates, on behalf of the local Auxiliary by Mrs. Mowbray of Kinsale, after which the reply to greetings was responded to on behalf of the delegates by Mrs. R. M. Holtby, Manchester. The reports from 8 different aux. and 3 Bands, were then received and showed an increase financially, but still the Whitby District has not yet. come up. to the required amount. Brooklin Auxiliary was presented with the W.M.S. Banner having re- ported the largest increase in new members for the past year. After these reports a pleasing solo was given by Mrs. W. Ten- nyson which was enjoyed by all present. A very impressive me- morial service was held, conduc-'g "ted by Mrs. (Rev. Y Harrison Port Perry, when the namesof 8 members were read who had' gassed away, from this district, uring the past year. The meeting was then closed with the singing of a specially chosen hymn.
