Morrison, Port Perry JAPAN AT OUR DOORS IN SPLENDID PAGEANT Canada is fortunate in the origins of many of her international relation- ships. It is well to remember that our first contract with Orientals goes back to that early period when Japan was beginning to open her doors to admit foreign guests. Missionaries rather than adventurers were our first interpreters to that proud peo- ple and when in 1823 a pastor and a physician left Toronto for Tokyo as the first representatives of the Methodist Church, they carried seeds of the honorable relations which have since developed in the inter- national field. When on the last two days of the present month the Methodist people of Toronto produce an elaborate exhibition and pageant «in Massey Hall in celebration of this golden jubilee, they are also com- memorating in 'striking fashion, & bright and heroic episode in their nation's history. Emphasis will fit- tingly be laid, according to prelimin- ary announcement, on the wonderful achievement of modern Japan. The many hundred of participants are to be congratulated on enlisting the sup- port of seventy Toronto Churches in behalf of such an undertaking. To bring the life of another nation right to the doors of the Canadian people is a dating venture in the interest i 'brotherhood and peace. oo BETTER LIVE STOCK TRAIN The farmers of Ontario County will | be interested to know that Agri- cultural Representative R.
