dogs poration of the Village of Port erry will be required to secure new licenses for same on or before April 1st next. Licenses may be procured at the office of the Village Treasurer. : E. H. PURDY, Clerk-Treasurer. etme) () (preset BUSINESS AS USUAL * A little stroll about town reveals the fact that as the seasons roll around, Port Perry goes on with business as usual. . Down at the Farmers' Union Mill- ing Company there has been hauled in a nice cut of logs, and before long we expect to hear the hum of the saw mill. Between two and three thousand cakes of ice have been put into the ice house by the Company. It is inter- esting to watch the process of cutting, floating to the house, and then ele- vating the blocks to the packers, a muéh better system than was in vogue in the "good old days." The quality of ice is first class, there be- ing a clear block about 18 inches thick. ee Orne At another part of the Water Front--down in the "egg house" MY. Allan Goode is doing some good work for himself and the town. He is in- stalling a thoroughly modern ice cream plant, which will be a credit to Port Perry. Considerable rearrange- ment is being made in the building, which is being equipped with the most modern machinery for making ice cream. With his . characteristic business energy Mr. Goode is carrying for- wardthis new enterprise, and it is ex- pected that he will be ready for manufacturing operations about the first of May. Then we shall be able to secure "Goode" Ice Cream made in Port Perry. About 20 h.p. Hydro | motor will be required to run this | plant. ------ siti Negotiations are going forward in connection with the proposed road building program of this year. Of course there are specifications to be prepared by the County Engineer, and to be 0.K'd by the Government. In the meantime the price of broken stone is coming down. It was $1.10 a ton last fall, but is down to 60c. a ton now. This probably due to the rumor that the Provincial road pro- gram is to be curtaileth, Of this matter we shall hear more later. : (OO . Capt. Bowerman & Son have been busy as usual this winter and are getting out some good gasoline launches. enn + +' cr Never has the snow gone away more favorably than it has this year. Indeed much of it seems to have kad into the g 4d This hh 14 'be a good garden year, and it is hoped that with the formation of the Horti- cultural Society, Port Perry will excel itself in this particular. ti) nin If you own a dog, don't forget to gecure a license.
