Co. of Canada, Ltd} Guelph, Ontario. 'Weekly Liberal Letter In the general amazement over the disclosure of public accounts com- public speculation as to possibilities of criminal proceedings to follow, there has been general overlooking of the probable effect of the disclos- ures upon the public life of Ontario. Political sharpsters in the Legis- lature corridors are saying that the revelation means, if not the death of the three party system in Ontario, at least the demise of the U.F.O. as a political force for ggnerations hence, That opinion applies also to any party which may be designated as a successor to the old Drury forces. With the third party eliminated from political considération in On- tario the Liberal party again looms as the single political bulwark against - Conservatism. The outlook is for a general flocking to the Liberal banner of former U.F.O. supporters who honestly supported that organization in the belief that it was in the best interests of the province that it should govern W. E. N. Sinclair, K.C.,, Liberal leader, has stated to Oshawa and else- where thatthe door of the Liberal party is wide open to receive all those who are opposed to Conser- vatism. The Liberal party platform he has said, is broad enough and big enough to contain all these, whi dif- fering to a degree on minor matters of policy, agree on the general prin- ciples of Government as propounded by Liberal leader since Confederation. The Legislature itself is expecting a defection from U.F.O. ranks to the Liberals. A few of the present U.F. 0.'s or Progressives who were form- erly Conservattives might return to their party fold. But the larger exodus is expected to be in the direc- tion of Liberal benches, and s o far as anyone can say at the present time it is probable they will be welcomed behind the Liberal leader to present a united loyal support: to His Majesty's government. If there are no open defections from U.F.O. benches this session it will be interesting to watch the course of events at the heralded "Progressive" convention this summer. According to all pre-session appearances, Hon. E. C. Drury was then to resume the mantle of leadership. If the idea of a convention has not now been aband- oned that will be a real test of the political situation in view of this session's startling developments. re WH Porn FOR SALE Black horse, rising 7; heavy wagon, light Jaw, 5 bags of sweet clover in the hull. nl Call, or phone 148 r 1-3.
