Mr. Scott, of Cannington, was Moderator. Port Perry and Utica having consumated a union, gave a call to the Rev. W. L. Atkinson, whose acceptance, resulted in his induction into the pastoral arge of St. John's Church Port Perry and Breadalbane Church of Utica. Rev. Mr. Mc- Donald, of Leaskdale delivered the sermon--a forceful and stir- ring enumeration of 'the duties of a living Church of Christ. Rev, Mr. Burkholder, of Kirk- field, addressed the minister in a masterly discourse and Mr. Smith, of 'Glenarm spoke very acceptably and appropri- ately to the eongregations. LT' 3 "OPENING _ ~ The Salvation Aymy are opening JOHN JOHNSTON There died jn Port Perry on June 22, 1925, John Johnston, who was bornsin the Township of Clarke about 81 years ago. ; Mr. Johnston married three times, his" widow's name being Mary Bart- ley. They were married nineteen Years ago: Deceased spent the gteater part of his:life in Clarke Township, mov- ing to his farm in Reach Township some thirty-five years ago. He has always been engaged in farming, and was 4 consistent member of the Presbyterian Church sincé he was sixteen years of age. He was also a member of thé Loyal Orange Lodge and the Order attended the funeral in a body and conducted their burial ceremony at the grave. The funeral services were conduct« ed by Rev. Mr. Atkinson, assisted by Rev. Wm, Higgs, in St. John's Pres- byterian Church. The choir rendered suitable rthusic and Mr. McIntyre sang "Good Night and Good Morn- ing." There were many beautiful floral tributes from friends who sincerely mourn 'the "loss of a friend and neighbor, Mr. Johnston is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mrs. Ww. J.
