It was composed of ten young men and women. In the evening they told of their experiences, proving to us that the Gospel still has its ancient power. Miss Hazel Gregg, who has spent most of her vacation in Toronto, taking a High School Teacher's Sum- mer Course, left on August 24th for Mara, where she is spending her holidays. Miss Gregg will teach" in the Erin High School during the com- ing school session. Rev. C. E. Dyer preached in his own pulpit again on Sunday, after spending three weeks vacation. Mr. Dyer reports a very good holiday. Whatever one might say about this weather for roots and corn, it could not be improved upon for harverting weather. The citizens of Greenbank are sure that there was one real stack in the village this summer, if no more. It was built to work like a funnel but was threshed on August 26th and did not " havea' chance to prove -its superior qualities. The flowers are getting into the swing of things and are at about their best. Mr, Wilson is to be con- gratulated apon his fine flower garden. : Mr. and Mrs. Job McKitrick have gone to Toronto and will be spending some days in the city at Mrs, Me- Kitrick's home, : Rev. J. A. Miller and family, re- turned to .Toronto, on August 27th, after preaching in the Union Church for three Sundays. Mr. Miller has many friends in this community. He has done good work for a number of years with the Presbyterian Church Extension Board in and around To- ronto. "Public Opinion" is divided as 'to whether to be proud of the Port Perry street dance or not. Some of as wonder if our estimation of values fs becoming upset or not, and we wonder what is going to be first when Mrs. Carmichael, of California, is visiting Mrs. Wm. Phoenix this week. Friday night will be Rev. G. M. Holmes" last pight in Greenbank. Mr, Holmes comes from Lindsay where 0] he has a big work in a strong-church. On Sunday Sept. 6th, the Green- bank Baptist Church is holding ita anniversary services. The Sunder- land choir that was so much enjoyed last. year, will be here again this year. This year Rec. G. C. Lamont, B. A,, - of Mount Dennis Baptist Church, will be the special preacher. Mr, Lamont always has a message froi Book." He has held ipogtant pastorates in two Michigan cities' and comes to Greenbank, a man of ex- perience, and with an enthusiam to make men better © acquainted with their Saviour, fg Western crops are all put in the -f shade: by the crop of wheat that Adam Wallace took off some new soil, about two acres from which Mr. Wal- lace reaped nearly 80 bushels to the acre. Any one having a better crop should let he Star know. -
