Rodman 0,000, The Williams Piano Co., of + A wa, is ereditor for $28,104, and 80,000 and the assets $035,000, ~--Oshawa Daily Times. rn CHM et » Ex-Mayor John Stacey's hat is in coming civic election providing no member of the city council, as now constituted, cares to run for mayor on season and it is sure to produce thefla Government Control platform which would involve the opening of a liquor store or stores in Oshawa. Mr. Stacey declared that he had been forced by the press into drastic efforts for such fa store, and gave warning that from now on he will not rest until Oshawa also becomes a centre for distribu- tion. No proposal, however, was made to the council that it ask the Liquor Con- trol Board to open such a store here, either by Mr. Stacey or anyone else. The aldermen were not required to do anything but listen to Mr. Stacey's announcement of his candicacy and general remarks which at times in- clined to bitterness, shadowing to a certain extent the happy feeling of the evening. "Stop, Look, Listen" signs be erected 3 Mr. Stacey's bitterness included on each side of the Whitby-Lindsay ~ quite emphatically, The Oshawa Daily Times, though he seemed to have dif- ficulty in remembering its title. He was, however, ' quite thoroughly familiar with news stories appearing on Wednesday and Thursday regard- ing a probable effort to have the aldermen vote on the liquor store question. He regarded thoes news stories as "attacks on the Council," and his generous, even spirited de- fence of 1927 aldermen was accepted with the gratitude of men who too rarely, perhaps, ' find themselves championed by anyone.
