The Women's In- stitute are offering many beautiful articles--aprons, undies, fancywork, candy, etc. You can also get a hot lunch served cafeteria ae student that took part did ably. While it is admitted that the performers did well, it for he success of the concert is dus to the untiring efforts of the teachers, who were assisted at the piano by Mrs. Orde. Their work required both patience and skill and these were given in unstinted measure. The program was divided into two parts, and the beauty of the enter- tainment was the fact that every student in the school had something to do, and there were no mishaps. Part 1 opened with some rousing choruses by a large number of boys. There was plenty of "zip" to their singing, and they enjoyed it as much as did the audience. Then the fairies appeared and in a riot of color danced and sang their way into the hearts of the people, and found a "pot of gold" for veerybody. Best of all---they wefe true Canadian fairies, and the gold was dug from Canadian soil, All you need to find your 'pot of gold" in Canada is a little bit of work. A wealth of characters illuminated this delightful play--The Fairy Queen, the Indians, Tree, Bird, and Rainbow Spirits, the Green Men, and the more prosaic, but very dependable charact~ ers--the Farmer, the Gold Miner, the Silyer Miner, the Nickel Miner, who show that there are more wonderful things in Canada than in England, Ireland or Scotland. The Maple Leaf Fairies' dance, and the Tableau of Canada and the Pro- vinces followed and completed the first part of the program in very hap- py fashion. Next came the presentation of prizes, and it was remarkable to note the large number of prize winners. The presentations were made by Mrs. Géo. Jackson, who congratulated the students upon their good work, and warmly commended the teachers for the labor that had been given in the training of the children for their sev- eral parts in the enterfainment, urg- ing that praents support 'their teach- ers in securing the best possible re- sults from the work of the students. Inspector R. 'A. Hutchison was present and was invited to say: a few words by the Chairman, Mr,' TW McLean. words that were spoken by Mr, Hutch- json, who praised the teachers, the students, and 'the school, concluding with a happy remark to the effect that when he was a small boy all the fairies were girls and very pretty girls, "and" he said, "Port Perry is not lacking in fairies." Part II of the program opened with physical drill by the senior boys. The exercises taken were-few in number, but they were well executed, and Mr. Mitchell is to be complimented in at- taining such good results in the short time the boys have been under his tuition, "The Land of Dolls" completed the program. Bessie and Minnie took a notion that they would like toy live like dolls and the Fairy Queen grati- fied their wish. They are transported to Doll Land and there they had some wonderful adventures under the guid- ance of Limpy, the Rag Doll, King of Doll Land, who eventually lost his sawdust, at which tragedy the Queen fainted, and Judge Slarum ordered the execution of the intruders who had brought about the death of the King of the Dolls. Of course the Fairy Queen arrived just in time rescue the girls, who were glad to back to the homes they had so cheer- + fully left in quest of adventure. They were very pleasant. BENTLEY Optometrist The assembly hall is going to be a great asset to the school, It makes possible the kind of ' education that rubs away the awkwardness from children, and makes them feel at home ,in company, training their "ability to entertain themselves and others. This ability to entertain one's self and others is much to be desired in these days when humanity has so many leisure hours.
