Mr. Burnham was a man of simple and regular habits, fond of his daily walk, and with his interests and affee- tions centred in his home, a home deeply appreciative of his kindly presence and in- fluence, and a home that will keenly feel his loss now that he has passed to the great beyond. Mr. Burnham was born at Whitby, in 1849, being the eldest son of the late Judge Burnham. His education Was received at Upper Canada Col- lege and Trinity College, where he took his degree in 1871. Hé was a member of Upper Canada Rifles at the time of 'the Fenian Raid, and was a Fenian Raid Veteran. He was Clerk of the Court when he first came to Port Perry in 1871, and held this office till the time of his death, a period of 58 years, He be- came Postmaster in 1882, In 1875 he married Marion Hart, only daughter of the= late D'Acres Hart, of Brantford. Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Burnham, all of whom together with Mrs. Burnham, Survive the deceased: A. M. Burnham, of the Dept. of Education, Reginald D. Burnham, Scugog; Mrs. Marion Orde, Port Perry; Miss Aileen Burn- ham, at home; Mrs. Norman Mac- laurin, Toronto; and Philip Burnham, a home. . einen (OH Bonnie FORMER WEIGHT INSPECTOR DIES FOLLOWING ILLNESS Robert J. Wright, former inspector of weights and measures of the city died at his residence, 14 Sparkhall Ave, Toronto, after an illness of several months. He was born at Prince Albert, Ontario, Décember 24, 1851, received his early education at Port Perry public and high schools and commenced his business career with his father, who operated a tan- nery at Prince Albert. Appointed to the inspectorship of weights and measures for the city of Toronto in 1880, he served in that capacity until his retirement on superannuation in 1825. For nearly 50 years he resided in the vicinity of Carlton and Parlia- ment Sts., and was well known in that district. The late Mr. Wright was an Anglican in religion, a member of the Masonic order and the A0.0.W,, and a Conservative in politics, He is survived by his widow, one son, Ernest G. Wright.
