Consequently, when they do come it is a gala day in this locality. 'this year's circus was preluded by a poster war. - With two big shows in the neighborhood and also several smaller ones all wishing their share 'of publicity it was not unusual to find your barn adosned with dainty bare- back riders one day and snarling uigers the next. These kalaedoscopic changes 'of scenery were however good advertis- ments and it was a rare person, especially among the younger set, who did not know the latest dope on all the cireuses. Of course there was-a parade. No circus would be complete without that! From 11.30 on, Tommie, Jackie, and Jimmie could be seen dragging more sedate (but we suspect, just as cur- ious) parents down the street after 'them intent on not missing one single feature of the procession. By noon thete was a Saturday night crowd stretching along the streets. The procession was late. Just as some of the elders were heading home | and even childish interest was waning and heat a blare of instruments heralded the approach of the spectacle. Grown folk found the parade casual- ly interesting, 'teen age looked at it with the bored sophistication of modern youth, but to-the children it was a veritable wonderland. Little}, cries of: delight and surprise greeted the appearance of each feature in the procession. It was almost as much fun to watch the juvenile audience as is was. the show. The clowns with their usual by-play were in evidence all through. One 'particularly clever stunt. in their pro- gram was a' super-Charleston dance by a clewn and his phantom partner.
