Myrtle Station Mr. Frank Parker, of Englehart, New Ontario, spent a few days re- cently with his sister Mrs. Clarence Harrison. Misses Bernice and Eilen Birkett spent the holiday in Claremont. , Mr. L. L. Ross, of Toronto, spent -Sunday with his brother here. The Young Ladies' Bible Class, of the Sunday School, met at the home of Mrs. A. Ross] last Wednesday even- ing. After the usual business was transacted, Mrs. J. Birkett was pre- sented with a Rayon Bedspread by the members of the class. Mrs. Birkett is leaving next week to reside in Port Perry. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Spencer and fam- ily, of Indian River, motored here for the week end, and visited with Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Beacock. A number from here were at Brook- lin Fair last Saturday and report a good time. Mrs. Geo. Chisholm and children, of Toronto, were at R. Chisholm's for last week. The Ladies' Aid will hold a social afternoon next Friday at the home of Mrs. W. Graham. A good program will be given by the grandmothers of the aid, followed by refreshments. About 70 friends and neighbours gathered at the home of Mr. J. Birkett last Thursday evening. During the evening Mr. T. R. Price called the gathering to order, and read an ad- dress and presented Mr. and Mrs. Birkett with two occassional chairs, as a slight token of appreciation of their services in the community. Speeches were given by a number who regretted their removal, but wished them suc- cess in their new home. Refresh- ments were served and a social time spent. Miss Edna Smith who is nursing in the Newmarket Hospital, spent the holiday at her home here. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Doble, of Wood- ville, spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Short. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Mitchell, Mr, and Mrs. Ernest Rodman, of Lindsay, attended the anniversary services at Zion, on Saturday. Several attended the opening of the basement at Valentia on Monday night. The program consisted of readings and solos and duets. Home- made candy was on sale. Everybody enjoyed themselves. Miss Pearl Short, of Guelph, spent] the week end holiday with her parents Mr. and Mrs, Jos. Short. The anniversary tea on Saturday, May 24th, held at Zion, was all that could be wished for. The weather was rather cold but the crowd came just the same. There were over 500 pre- sent for tea and the softball game be- tween the Little Britain girls and the Valentia girls was won by Little Britain, Then the play "Bashful Mr. Bobs" was put on twice by the young people from Janetville and special music was furnished between acts. Mr. and Mrs, P. Ripley of Oshawa, attended the tea and play at Zion on Saturday night, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Wickett and Miss Hazel Wickett and Mr. Claire Wickett, of Oshawa, spent the holiday with Zion friends, Mr. Fred Western spent Friday at Janetville, Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Hall were visitors to Uxbridge recently. Mr, and Mrs, David Yerex, of To- ronto, spent the holiday with friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Jacobs spent Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. William Stokes. Friends are Sorry to hear that Mrs. Silas Jacobs is on the sick list. All hope Mrs. Jacobs will soon be better. Mr, and Mrs, Lawrence Gillson, and little Margaret, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Gillson. Mr. Brackenridge, of Westwood, is sick and under the care of Dr. Hall, Little Britain, He is staying with his daughter Mrs. Gordon Gillson. There were no services at Zion on Sunday. Miss Viva Briggs, of Oshawa, spent } the week end with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Briggs. Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Hoar and daughters visited old acquaintances here on Saturday. Mr. Tom Lambert, of Brooklin, has been cutting the grass on the shoulder of the highway with the mower during the week. EI LORD WILLINGDON'S APRECIATION Lord Willingdon's tenure of office as Governor-General of Canada, is draw- ing to a close. He has expressed him- self as being delighted with the very courteous treatment accorded to him- self and Lady Willingdon, by the Can-| adian people.
