Thompson, of Detroit, were in town one day last week. Mrs. Monet, who has been seriously ill, is considerably improved in health. Mrs. R. M. Holtby, is we are glad to say, recovering from her recent ill- ness. Miss Grace McMillan, Toronto, is spending her holidays in town. Miss Olive Wallace has left for Port Reverse, on Lake Erie, for July and August, to act as dietician at a Y. W.C.A. summer camp. Miss Wallace graduated with honours in June from her two year coursé at Macdonald Hall. Mr. Ralph Wallace came sixth in his first year examinations at Osgoode Hall, winning one of the seven scholarships given. Congratulations. Mr. Lloyd Rundle, and, Miss Grace Rundle, of Toronto, have been holiday- ing with friends in town. Kent has decided not to open his gardens to the public this year. He is making extensive reno- vations in his rose garden and the grounds would not be in suitable con- dition for public inspection. While we regret that the public will not be able to see these famous gardens this year, we can see the necessity of an occasional cessation from a constant wearing of holiday attire. 'Old and modern dance tunes. ee (feet Mr. W. H. McCaw In 1849 Mr. Wm. H. McCaw was born at Stanstead, Que. the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. McCaw. When he was three years old the family moved to Prince Albert, Ont., where Mr. Mec- Caw followed the business of shoe- making. Mr. Wm. H, McCaw learned watch- to Boston to complete his training. Upon his return home he set up business in Port Perry, and continued as watchmaker and jeweller for many years, retiring some fifteen years ago. A sideline of his business was the local branch of the Bell Telephone Co., of which he was the first manager. Mr. McCaw married Miss Emma Bigelow. Eight children (all girls) were born to Mr. and Mrs. McCaw, and they, together with Mrs. McCaw, survive the deceased--Elizabeth, St. Petersburg; Mrs. Arthur Carnegie, of Port Perry; Mrs. Frank Coone, of Providence, R.I.; Miss Emma, St. Petersburg; Mrs. Harry Nasmith, of Port Perry; Mrs. David Carnegie, of Port Perry; Mrs. Harold Emmerson, Port Perry; Mrs. Morley Honey, of "ST.
